Met de ST4000PEXPSE 4-poorts PoE NIC kunt u vier gigabit Power over Ethernet-poorten via één PCI Express-sleuf toevoegen. Elke poort biedt een vermogen van max. 25,5 W, waarbij netwerkdata en voeding via één Ethernet-kabel worden gecombineerd met minder kabelwarboel en het extra gemak van op afstand bedienbare PoE-apparaten.
De PCI Express PoE-kaart ondersteunt de IEEE 802.3 AT Class 1 en Class 2 (type 1)-norm voor een Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) en kan 50 VDC vermogen leveren aan compatibele gevoede apparaten (PD). Hierdoor zijn geen aparte voedingsbron en dataverbinding meer nodig voor PoE-apparaten zoals IP-camera's; IP-telefoons en draadloze toegangspunten.
